NIGER DELTA SUMMIT: ANIOMA YOUTHS ACCUSE NDDC, PAP OF MARGINALISATION

..... says equal treatment of all components only panacea for growth and development

The Niger Delta will experience rapid growth and development only if all the component states and ethnic nationalities are treated equally in terms of human capital developments.

This point was canvassed by the National President of the Anioma Youth Forum Worldwide (AYF-W), Comrade Nnamdi Ofonye while speaking on the sidelines during the 3 day Niger Delta Stakeholders summit which ended in Portharcourt on Friday.

The youth leader stressed that the region will continue to witness a bleak growth unless all Niger Deltans are seen and treated as one without giving any undue preference for any ethnic group or state above others.
Comrade Nnamdi O. Ofonye AYF-W National President.

He lamented that the Anioma part of the region has remained marginalized on all fronts as it concerns the NDDC and other Federal government's interventionist agencies created to assuage the people of the region and further stressed that it is time to correct such anomaly in the interest of peace and tranquility which will boost economic growth of the region.

Ofonye noted that despite the FG's efforts to empower the region that lays the golden eggs, some people and parts of the region especially Anioma have been unfairly treated despite having large quantum of oil and gas which the people have continued to suffer the consequences  from its exploration.

While commending the new board under the Chairmanship of Mr. Chiedu Ebie and the Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku for putting together such event that created an avenue for all critical stakeholders to interact, he called for a concerted effort to work all the talks warning that the youths are desirous of seeing a new Niger Delta region with fast pace of signature infrastructures that will impact directly the lives of the people.

The youth leader noted that the Anioma Youths is open to work with other youth groups in the region to build strong bridges of comradeship where mutual trust and respect for each other will thrive but will no longer accept the treatment of second class citizens in the region.
