Martins Scores in Seattle’s Victory over Dallas as Dempsey returns to the MLS.
Martins’ goal was his second against Dallas having netted in the reverse fixture on May 19 and his 7th since joining the MLS side.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur finally announced on Friday that United States international Dempsey has left for Seattle Sounders.
Dempsey was introduced to the crowd on Sunday before the kick-off of the Seattle-Dallas encounter.
“I think we will achieve some great things here, so thank you,” Dempsey told the boisterous crowd.
Terms of the deal are yet to be disclosed but reports suggest the MLS club will pay a record ($9m) transfer fee to Spurs for the 30-year-old midfielder.
Dempsey, who has scored 35 goals for the USMNT in 98 appearances, had earlier featured for another MLS side the New England Revolution from 2004 to 2007, before moving abroad to join Fulham.
He signed a three-year deal with Tottenham for a fee believed to be worth £6m in 2012.
