"A few days ago I joined the Nigerian students movement in Ekiti state to help address the issues that arose over the unfortunate incident that caused so much pain to the student community in the state and beyond. It was predicated on the need to get our voice out there and further aid the resolution of issues that are pressing amongst the student population, and I'm a bit relieved that to a very large extent success was recorded.

"The pain of the loss notwhistanding, I believe that kudos should be given to the NANS President Comrade Bamidele Danielson Akpan, who ensured the release of the detained students from police custody. At times like this and in the face of daunting challenges it is important that the student community speaks with one voice, and it's very commendable that the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students did not disappoint."

He further called on the state got and the police to ensure that the family of the deceased and other victims be adequately compensated.

"Nothing can replace human life and nothing can really take the pain of wrongful detention, however I believe that the police and relevant authorities should take proactive steps towards tending the wounds created by the sad incident. I believe from now henceforth security agencies should be more careful and diplomatic when dealing with student related issues in order to forestall similar incidences in the future."
