GIVE MORE ATTENTION TO GOOD GOVERNANCE; GROUP URGES FG, DTSG AND POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDERS

Nigerian Youths under the aegis of Anioma Youths For Good Governance; AYGG, have urged both the Federal and state governments to focus and settle down to the business of governance, having recently successfully constituted their respective Executive Councils.

In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Comrade Elvis Ekwukwo, the group called on governments at all levels to quickly adjust their focus and priorities to administering the instrument of government for the benefit of the populace.

“With the recent inauguration of the Executives of the Federal and State government, Anioma Youths hereby urge the administrations of President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa respectively, to give more attention to innovative and people oriented policies.
The nation has successfully transited and forged ahead, therefore issues that should be given more attention are expected to be those that directly and visibly impact on the lives of the masses. The issues that challenge the ease of standard of living in the country is expected to be  tackled ruthlessly no matter how complicated they appear, and for this reason it is expected that every appointee of government takes the initiative to always think of the best possible solution to these challenges, first and foremost.”

The statement further urged the government at all levels to shun issues of tribal and ethnic jingoism, upholding only the tenets of equality from sound counsel. The Group also tasked government on the need to always uphold the rule of law.

 “AYGG would like to also bring to the fore the need for government at all levels to do away with negative sentiments in the coloration of ethnic and tribal emancipation. The duty of every government is to hold every interest as its interest and aggregate public opinions on a platform that secures the rights and benefits due every Nigerian and Deltan.

The need to uphold the rule of law and adhere to the doctrine of constitutionalism is equally important, and in this regard the government should always endeavor to be on the right side of the constitution."

In conclusion, the group made a strong call for concentrated action on specific areas. “AYGG seizes this opportunity to task the Delta State Government on giving preeminence to areas like Innovation and Research, Education, health, agriculture, environmental management, flood control and Sincere engagement of young people in the best and most rewarding way possible, Promoting Accountability and anti-graft within its institutions, and Infrastructural and Rural Development.”

“The Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government as well as the Ifeanyi Okowa led Delta State government should be supported by all through positive and meaningful advocacy, even as Anioma Youths wish them the best in the task of contributing their quota to our nation building  and sojourn in  their tenures.”
