As the events leading to the 2023 gubernatorial contest in Delta state get more intense with rumors making the rounds, members of the APC in the state have expressed their intent and disposition to work towards the candidacy of Dr Rufus Eseoghene Ebegba as the APC standard bearer.

This was the main agenda discussed as deltans from its central senatorial district under the the aegis of Ebegba Grassroots Mandate (EGM) recently held its meeting where executive positions were filled, fueling rumors of Dr Rufus Ebegba's Gubernatorial aspiration for Delta State.

Speaking during the meeting in Udu Local Government Area, the coordinator of the group Mrs Justice Jude Grace said that the need to galvanise support for the candidacy of Dr Rufus Ebegba is based on how perfectly positioned he is to govern the state as well as a necessity for the growth and development of the APC in the state.

"When we identify people like Dr Rufus Ebegba in our society and look at how he had been performing in the roles he has held, we must strive to galvanise support for him, and ensure that more opportunities for the people to benefit from his skill in leadership and administration are opened.

Politics in Nigeria is something that certain people see somehow, however the only way things like that will change is when we ensure that people of character, integrity and a good record of performance are put into office by the people."

She said further that "As far as APC is concerned Dr Rufus Ebegba in his capacity as Director General of the National Biosafety Management Agency NBMA is a distinguished deltan that has stood out as one of the shining lights of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration through his enviable performance record as a public servant and the pioneer head of that agency."

His acceptability across all sections of the party is not in doubt, because many people have been in touch with us in confidence and discussions make it very clear that Dr Rufus Ebegba's uncontroversial personality, easy going disposition to life and leadership skill is very sellable, and befits the one who will be candidate of the APC and Governor of Delta State in 2023".

Mrs Justics Jude Grace urged the newly inaugurated leaders of the movement to not be deterred in their efforts to spread the good news of Dr Rufus Ebegba.

"Even before now that you became excos, most of you here already carry the Ebegba Gospel around, on behalf of our principal, I thank you for your efforts so far. Now that roles have been given to you, don't relent in your efforts and don't be deterred. You have a voice and people must hear it, God will see us through".

Those inaugurated include Cosmas Mikpo (Asst Coord), Ejenake Patrick (General Secretary), Emily Opolo (Woman Leader), Pere Alfred (Treasurer), Anthony Ethkophe (Youth Leader), Toju Sillo, (PRO) Micheal Onorieka (Fin Sec) etc.

In similar news, campaign posters of Dr Rufus Ebegba were sighted in major cities of the state, as rumors of the Evwreni born DG of the National Biosafety Management Agency NBMA continues to mount.

In Ward 9, Ndokwa East LGA, posters of Dr Ebegba were sighted in strategic location while discussions with persons in and around the area exposed the presence of Pro-Ebegba Supporter.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a native of Ibrede Community said "since I heard that its possible someone like Dr Ebegba will contest, I have chosen to support him because he's a fresh face that is not connected with the problems of the state. Delta state needs such people to govern so that we can have a fresh start.

There has been too much wasted and too many people connected across party lines, Dr Ebegba is easier to trust because he has almost no excess baggage and yet has risen to a very key position through hardwork and diligence. I think if we would be sincere, he should get the APC ticket when it is time next year."

Other locations where posters were sighted include APC State Secretariat, Asaba, Abraka, Agbor, Ozoro, Ogwashi-uku etc.
