Emevor Bypass: APC Accuses DESOPADEC of Poor Road Quality.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Isoko North has expressed its disappointment and displeasure at the DESOPADEC Commissioner, Dr. Paul O. Oweh and the MD, Bashorun Askia for not living up to expectations in making sure that roads constructed in Isoko are of good quality.
The statement which was signed by Comrade Louis Onaemor, the APC LGA Publicity Secretary, highlighted that the assertion was made from a report of findings.
The newly inaugurated APC Spokesman said "From our findings, the ongoing job is shoddy and this is as a result of 'dirty politics' between two Emevor sons. It's unfortunate that the DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Isoko ethnic group at the Commission and Dr Nelson Ejakpovi could engage in politics of camps within the PDP on a project that can bring development and improve the economic activities of their very community they came from"
Comrade Onaemor, also known as 'Sagacious', further stated
"What we have discovered is that the contractor handling the project, due to corruption and greed, is not ready to use the required quantity of asphalt on the construction works. And this trend of monumental fraud is being practiced across Isoko North through government agencies, not minding the plight of commuters and Constituents".
"We state unequivocally that the litany of shoddy jobs by DESOPADEC and its Contractors is totally unacceptable and we condemn it with all sense of responsibility."
"It is interesting to note that the said construction works at Emevor by-pass and other works of DESOPADEC cannot stand the test of time. The meaning of this is that with this kind of poor job, the road project after a couple of months would be regrettably terrible, returning to a worse state than it was before the contract was awarded".
" The community is now suffering untold hardship due to the greed of their sons and some government officials and the contractor".
"We use this opportunity to call on the State Government to as a matter of urgency do the needful by fixing the road properly to alleviate the suffering of the masses. The State Government should partner with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, (COREN) to assist them in construction works within Isoko North, and dubious contractors blacklisted and punished".
"It's shocking, and very worrisome that at this modern age, an engineer will design a road for use without
a proper drainage system. The Emevor by-pass is one amongst many".
"We insist that the Commissioner for Works to prevail on the construction company to perform their obligation on the road in the interest of the people of Emevor and speed up the slow pace of work".
In conclusion the statement reads "The party is not unaware in like manner, how NDDC projects are littered in this same community uncompleted but it's our belief that, the forensic audit will unravel the culprits to end this unpalatable trend instituted by the PDP".
