POLICE AFFAIRS MINISTRY HOLDS TRAINNING FOR POLICE OFFICERS.



The Federal Ministry of Police Affairs has begun a two day capacity building workshop for members of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Asaba, Delta State.


The workshop which is billed to hold between the 23rd and 24th of January 2024, was declared open by Dr Nasir Sani-Gwarzo Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Police, who was represented by Mrs Immaculata Rufus Ebegba.


While declaring the event open with the theme “Improving The Nigeria Police Public Relations”, Mrs Immaculata Rufus Ebegba, a Director, reading through an address, explained that the relationship between the Police and the Public was key to determining the success of policing in the country. She said effective Police Public relation helps in solving complex crime issues in society.
In the speech, She said “ the essence of the training was to equip the Police Force for improved transparency, accountability and sincerity of actions, in order to better respond to community issues and secure lives and property.

“ The strengthening of Community policing which has been identified as a panacea to the prolong security challenges facing the country, can only function effectively and efficiently if the relationship that exists between the Police and public is cordial and strong”. 

In conclusion, the Director said “ It is my hope that this program would help to close the trust gap between the public and Nigeria Police Force so as to facilitate intelligence gathering capacity of the NPF for effective crime prevention and policing”.


The first of the two-day seminar was attended by top police hierarchy and resource persons including DCP Sunday Oke DC DFA, Delta State Police Command, ASP Emeka Nwaze PPRO’s Office, Olorogun Dr Rufus Ebegba KSJ, Chairman Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) FCT Command and Founder Rufus Ebegba Centre for Leadership And Environmental Sustainability, and SP Phoebe Vincent Niyel, a retired senior Police officer.


The workshop featured presentations from resource persons, a goodwill message from the Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, who was ably represented, and interactive session.
