ONICHA-OLONA FEMALE UNITY CUP KICKS OFF.


The Maiden edition of the Onicha-Olona Female Unity Cup Annual Football Fiesta 2024 kicked off yesterday, March 24th 2024, with the game between Agba Babes and Ogbeobi Girls which held at Iyi Ogbe Playground, Abuanor, Onicha-Olona.
The President-General of Onicha Olona Development Union (OODU) Sir Patrick Ejidoh performed the ceremonial kick-off, accompanied by Mr. Okey Aligbe (PG, Emeritus) and Chief Osita Olunwa (Iyase of Onicha-Olona).
According to the Local Organising Committee of the competition which is chaired by Prince Emeka Omesiete, the Onicha-Olona Unity Cup is an annual football fiesta organised to promote sports development, provide an alternative engagement for youths against criminality, Drug addiction and abuse, child trafficking and general youth restiveness.
The LOC further explained that the Female edition was introduced after more than 5 years of having only male competitors, in a bid to expand the scope of the competition and encourage sports development for young women.
Other members of the LOC include Technical director; Mr Paulo Okwusindi, Media & Publicity Director; Hon. Emmanuel Chi Oweazim Jr, and Secretary Comrd. Evaristus Nwabuonwor.
The first match turned out entertaining, with Agba defeating Ogbeobi by a lone goal.

The Tournament continues today and is sponsored by Rt Hon Engr Victor O. Ochei FNSE, Speaker Emeritus, Delta State House of Assembly. 
Present at the event were co-sponsors and eminent indigenes, including the Iyase of Onicha-Olona, Chief Ambrose Osita Olunwa, Mr Okey Aligbe PG Emeritus OODU, Prince Ephraim Odiaka Nwabuokei, Mr Sunny Ukwadia (Sunny Exchange), amongst others.

Iwaji: Gabriel Ogbechie, Jossy Honnah Pay Homage, As Obi Justin Chukwunonso Nwoko Fetes Idumuje-Ugboko.

PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS DORIS UBOH AS REF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE RURAL ELECTRIFICATION AGENCY.

  Honourable Doris Olayemi Uboh MNSE has been appointed as the substantive Rural Electrification Fund Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.   The appointment, effective from January 23, 2025, is for an initial term of four years.   Honourable Uboh, a former member of the House Of Representatives, has been acting as the executive director Rural Electrification Fund ( ED REF) since March 2024 and will now settle into her role following her substantive appointment.   Doris Uboh is a New York-trained Electrical Engineer with years of working experience in the industry.  She was a member of House of Representatives, where she represented Ika Federal Constituency between 2007 and 2011.
