OPINION: SEN NED NWOKO TRULY DESIRES A BETTER NIGERIA.

Senator Ned Nwoko; Senator Representing Delta North Senatorial District.

Nigeria is passing through its toughest time in our recent history, however, I am not in the league of those that have concluded that it's over for Nigeria. I strongly believe that we will come out stronger and better, and bequeath a nation that our children will be proud of.

Great nations that we know passed through great challenges to become what they are today. The magnitude of challenges facing us today as a nation are clear indications of the magnitude of success that awaits us.

My hope and optimism are spiced by my recent trip to Abuja at the behest of Distinguished Senator representing the people Delta North, Sen. Ned Nwoko. It afforded me the very needed opportunity to interact with different Nigerians and to also see for myself how things work at that higher level. As rightly observed, there is hope for Nigeria.

Firstly, the impression that those elected to serve are in office to dine, wine and amass wealth for themselves at the expense of the masses, is a very erroneous impression. I may not vouch for all, but I know that some are genuinely committed to the mandate given to them. Many of you may not agree with me but that does not invalidate the fact that we have patriotic Nigerians that are giving a lot to ensure that the system works.

I recall walking into the senate House at about 7pm, ordinarily, I was not expecting to meet people in office until I got there and saw that people were still discharging their duties by that time. Am not talking about busybodies and loafers, I mean official engagements. I couldn't pretend, I expressed my shock immediately. When I probed further, I found out that it has been like that especially in offices that are meeting needs of the people on daily basis.

The office of Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko is beehive of serious activities. It's not a place that people gather and gossip or snap selfies. Every staff in that office is dedicated to the job, doing a lot of research and information gathering. If you are not up and doing, you have no business being in that office.

When you also look at the physically and mentally energetic nature of the Senator, you will see reasons he cannot keep indolent staffs.

Another thing that makes the office unique is that the office is always open to everyone. The Senator wants to listen to everyone and help everyone in need. This is not an exaggeration, I have sat down severally with him and persons came in with their needs, he never said NO to anybody, not even one. This is one part of Senator Ned Nwoko that amazes me. You criticise him because you have not come closer to him. He is the best that human being can be.

Having talked about his person, talking about him as Senator will only rekindle your hope and believe in Nigeria. I tell you with every sense of responsibility that Ned Nwoko is among the very few persons that genuinely love Nigeria. Every of his thought is dominated by how Nigeria can get better. He thinks not about himself the way he thinks about Nigeria. He is always finding solutions on how to make Nigeria better. He is deeply touched by what people are going through, that is why he is a strong advocate for people to have access to money. He has often questioned why money should be kept in the foreign reserve while people are dying of hunger, businesses are folding up and general hardship?

At a point, he faced me and said, I wish I had the means to start executing these projects with my resources. It was not a campaign statement, of course he cannot campaign to me, it was like a father and son talking. I looked at his face I saw a man that is moved by the feelings of our national ill-health and it's attendant consequences on the populace. Ned Nwoko truly desire a better Nigeria.
