Dr Chamberlain Dunkwu Lauds National Sports Commission.


The President of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAqF) and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House Of Representatives Sir Chamberlain Nnamdi Dunkwu PhD recently offered commendations to the Nigeria Sports Commission for its infrastructure drive aimed at boosting the chances and improving the competitive edge of swimmers.

Background

This commendation was occasioned by the news of the NSC's decision to construct standard swimming pool facilities for the next three hosts of the National Sports Festival, namely Enugu, Bayelsa, and one state to be later decided.


Commendations

1. The Nigeria Aquatics Federation President noted that the decision was a milestone achievement and a clear demonstration of the commission's renewed commitment to inclusivity in Nigerian Sports.

2. The NSC, according to the NAqF President, is by this move enhancing athletes' preparations, as well as, taking transformative steps towards addressing infrastructural deficit, which has continued to hinder the development and growth of watersports in Nigeria, with a view to promoting broader participation.

3. The Federation also considers this a strategic breakthrough as implementation will also enable the country to achieve the aim of having an Olympic-size swimming facility in every Nigerian state before 2050.

4. The NAqF President added that the new facilities will create an improved training environment for young swimmers and lay a solid foundation for the future of the nation's aquatic sports sector, praising NSC for its actions which are in alignment with international best practices, where host cities are fully equipped with necessary and contemporary infrastructure to improve competition standards.

PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS DORIS UBOH AS REF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE RURAL ELECTRIFICATION AGENCY.

  Honourable Doris Olayemi Uboh MNSE has been appointed as the substantive Rural Electrification Fund Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.   The appointment, effective from January 23, 2025, is for an initial term of four years.   Honourable Uboh, a former member of the House Of Representatives, has been acting as the executive director Rural Electrification Fund ( ED REF) since March 2024 and will now settle into her role following her substantive appointment.   Doris Uboh is a New York-trained Electrical Engineer with years of working experience in the industry.  She was a member of House of Representatives, where she represented Ika Federal Constituency between 2007 and 2011.
