Dr Chamberlain Dunkwu: Primed To Inject Energy Into Nigeria's Aquatic Sports Sector.
By Ikechukwu Chukwudi-Abiandu (The Legacydreamz),
A few weeks ago, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Sir Chamberlain Nnamdi Dunkwu PhD emerged victorious at the National Aquatics Federation election, securing a mandate of four years during which expectations of a renewed leadership focused and aligned towards achieving necessary goals on which the future of Aquatic sports will be built to mutually beneficial ends for the country and the sport.
From the conspicuousness of his official responsibilities as a top government functionary, it is safe to say that Dr Dunkwu's personality and influence precede him, however this is not only reasoned from the paraphernalia of office, but from the discovery of his high level of commitment and go-getting capacity.
Before now, Dr Chamberlain Dunkwu has maintained a personality that has nurtured a deep-rooted love for sports, especially Aquatic Sports, and also seeks every available avenue to attract or pioneer positive and progressive action, which often leaves an improved and lasting impression.
Thus his selection to preside over the affairs of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation is a strategic move by stakeholders to reengineer the sport by injecting the much-needed energy through which new beginnings will be pioneered.
On his part, the newly inaugurated president of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation has teed off on an inspiring note, leaving no one in doubt about his intentions for the sport, its professionals and all relevant stakeholders.
According to Dr Chamberlain Dunkwu, " We are blessed as a nation with enormous Aquatic potential, from the riverine areas of the Niger-Delta to the lakes and coastlines of the North and West.
Our mission is to harness that natural advantage, nurture the raw talents waiting to be discovered, and attract sponsors who share our dream of making Nigeria a continental and global force in Aquatic sports."
Having spent decades in active philanthropy and community development, Dr Chamberlain Dunkwu's words are taken with heavy essence due to his enviable antecedents of attracting development to necessary situations, together with his never-say-die disposition to life.
For those of us who have come to know and appreciate Dr Dunkwu for his style of social empowerment, it is a matter of how much Nigerians will recognise the Aquatic sports sector, because the newly inaugurated president possesses a contagious energy, capable of inspiring unprecedented development and advancement of the sport beyond our present estimation.
Proof of this was recently noted at the 27th edition of the Nigeria University Games, where swimming events were jointly organized by NAqF and NUGA, with Dr Chamberlain Dunkwu reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation (NAqF) to grassroots sports development through strategic partnership with the Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA), for the purpose of discovering and nurturing young talents in swimming and other aquatic disciplines.
According to him " In the committee of sports, aquatics has the highest number of gold medals, and if the country focuses on its development, we will not lack medals at continental and international meets."
From all the pointers to effective leadership and passion, Dr Chamberlain Dunkwu offers that spark, occasioned by the injection of energy into his responsibilities and projections, and he is known to walk his talk.
