AGEGE RESPONDS TO ETHNIC PRESSURE GROUP.
Being a Press Release from the Office of the Deputy Senate President.
SENATOR OMO-AGEGE IS ACTING ON IMG’S APPEAL FOR PEACE IN ISOKO NATION.
Today, the elite Isoko Monitoring Group (IMG) formally appealed to the Deputy President of the Senate, HE Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, to “step in and save the Isoko Nation from present and imminent danger”.
2.0. Specifically, the IMG seeks the urgent intervention of the DSP to stop the widely reported bloody hostilities between our people in Igbide and Emede Communities in Isoko South Local Government Area and the haze of insecurity hovering over parts of Ozoro and Oleh – the headquarters of Isoko North and Isoko South Local Government Areas respectively.
3.0. The DSP agrees wholly with the IMG that the present state of insecurity in these Isoko communities is unfortunate, intolerable, and should be responsibly managed to attain sustainable peace. He believes that responsible Delta leaders within and outside the Isoko Nation have a duty to ensure that our people do not embrace bloodletting as a solution to challenges. There is no good gain for anyone in the end.
4.0. As a firm believer in our nation’s federal constitutional democratic governance structure, the DSP knows that the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa as the Chief Security Officer of the State has huge responsibilities as far as the resolution of the issues is concerned. He prays for and encourages Senator Okowa and his team to manage the causal factors of the problems and the resultant insecurity responsibly and effectively.
5.0. The Office of the DSP hereby assures the IMG, and indeed the Isoko Nation, that the DSP has taken serious note of its concerns and suggestions and will take every lawful, necessary, and pragmatic step to contribute his quota to peace in the affected communities.
To this end, the DSP is already considering an array of options to help restore peace to our people.

Prince Efe Duku
Special Adviser to the DSP on Legislative & Plenary Matters
